FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Do you Provide Scripts for me?

The Actors One-stop Shop has an extensive script library. When you book a shoot date with us, we will have a conversation with you about the kind of material that will both inspire you and present you to your greatest advantage. We then use your Spotlight or Casting Call Pro profile to do the work of a Casting Director. We pull a selection of scripts from our library, each of which we think will show you off well and each of which we believe you would get cast in in a professional context. We then give you the opportunity to choose a script from that selection.

2. What if I have my own Scripts that I would like to Use?
Clients often come to us with scripts in mind. We're happy to use these, but we do charge £50 extra. That £50 covers the following pre-production work as well as the additional post-production editing required:

- Any script edits needed to prepare the script for shooting. This includes a creative consultation about your script.

- Editing the script to be an appropriate length.

- Adapting the script to an ActorsOne location.

- The creation of a unique shot roster for your shoot

Here are some handy tips and tricks for making your scene suitable for a Showreel-Shoot.

- Have a look at the Locations listed in Question 11

- Aim for a page to a page and a half in length

- We love playing with replica guns, but we can't take them outside The police don't like it for some strange reason!

- We can find adult actors for you, but if you'd like a child, a baby or an animal in your scene you might have to befriend them for us.

3. Who do I play opposite?

Actors One Stop Shop cast the scenes for you, so you have professional actors to act with. If you would like to bring in a friend or a colleague to be in your scene, that's ok too. When you book, just let us know and provide us with your co-star's name, phone-number and postal address.

4.Whats the Difference between a Single Focus and a Dual Focus Scene?

A dual focus scene has two people in it, both of whom speak. The camera follows and focuses on both of you equally. Think of a duologue.
A single focus scene primarily focuses on you. You have the majority, if not all, of the dialogue. No one wants their show reel to look like a filmed monologue, so we still provide a professional actor for you to play opposite. We cut away to them and they may interject occasionally: that makes it look like real tv.

5. Which one should I go for - a Dual Focus or a Single Focus Scene?

Ideally we recommend a mix of both types on your showreel. It looks like you've played meaty roles, but it adds variety.

6. What happens on the day?

Just like on a professional shoot, you'll have a call time and dialogue to learn.

Also just like on a film-set, our directors like to be involved from start to finish. This means that unless you're acting with a friend, you'll meet your scene-partner on the day. Rehearsals take place on the day for an hour to an hour and a half before you film each scene. Your co-star will arrive with fully-prepared and ready to rehearse. Actors provide their own costumes. During rehearsals we'll discuss costume and art-direction. We recommend that you bring a couple of costume options to talk over with the director.

We will have a full crew waiting to make you look great. There will be a director, a sound technician, a director of photography and a first assistant director. The atmosphere will be informal and fun, and the director will be there to guide you through your performance.

7. What if I want to Postpone or Cancel my Shoot?

We understand that an actors' life is rarely predictable. If you need to postpone or cancel your shoot, that's ok.

If you cancel, we ask for 48 hours notice. We do not return your deposit if you cancel. This is because we get straight to work after a shoot is booked.

If you would like to postpone for any reason, we ask for 48 hours notice. If you postpone the shoot with less than 48 hours notice, there's an additional charge of £50 payable on your new shoot date. This goes some way towards covering the cost of the cast and crew that we hired for the original shoot date.

8. What happens after my shoot?

We aim to get your finished reel out to you within 2 weeks, so you're not left waiting around. A draft for you to look at should be ready in seven working days.

We like to get the thumbs up from you! When an edit is finished, we upload a copy to your Casting Call Pro page or if you don't have Casting Call Pro, we upload it to personalised (private) web-page. This gives you, your mum, your dog and your agent a chance to get a sneak-preview. WIthin reason, you can let us know if there are any changes that you'd like us to make. If we make changes, you and the agent and the dog get a sneak preview of those too!

We allow for up to half an hour re-editing; if it goes above this, we will let you know but there may be additional charges. Anything over 30mins is charged at £40/hour.

Once you're happy and have given us the all-ok, we'll send you 5 DVD copies of your new and shiny showreel, with personalised packaging. If you have an agent, we send a complimentary copy to them as well! We can't promise any copies for canines.

9. What about uploading my reel to Spotlight or YouTube?

The best way to get your showreel up on Spotlight quickly is to deliver a hard copy to their office in Leicester Square.

If you trust us with your user name and password, we will happily upload to your Youtube page or ours for you for an additional charge of £20.

10. When do I pay? How?

When you book, we take a £50 deposit. This is non-refundable, even if you cancel your shoot. We take the rest of the payment, minus the deposit, on the day of the shoot. You can pay by cash, cheque or card.

If you would like to postpone for any reason, we ask for 48 hours notice. If you postpone the shoot with less than 48 hours notice, there's an additional charge of £50 payable on your new shoot date. This is to cover the cost of the cast and crew that we hire.
